Textual Analysis

Genre
Lucy (2014) is a mixture of Action,Thriller, experimental science and mutation sub genre of  Sci-fi. The use of advanced technology could suggest that it is set in the future. This genre is also good vs evil as Lucy is trying to be defend herself by the villains who attack her.

Key conventions
There are a huge number of sci-fi key conventions. The first shot of the trailer shows the color and pattern of her eye changing in a blink, this is highly unnatural and shows very abnormal scientific changes. The scene where the professor was lecturing about the brains capacity also initials the fact that it is a scientific movie.  The cells go ballistic inside her body and she has an attack, also she can feel the feelings and power going through somebody's body by a touch - two key sci-fi sub-genres.

Target audience
The target audience would most probably be for young adults both woman and female, it could be argued that it rated 50/50 as the main character is a woman but men are more interested in violence and drug dealing. It is rated for age 16 but does not include many harsh scenes or too much bad violence. The main target audience could be for mainly ages, 13-40. The reason i suggest a fairly old age is because there is a lot of  science and theories that mainly adults would understand.

Genre
Avatar (2009)is a mixture of  Action, adventure , experimental science and of course sci-fi fantasy. As it is set in another world, shows that is it untrue and all just a fantasy. When a human gets send to a mysterious world with alien life form, he decides to name it home.

Key conventions
In the beggaring we catch a glimpse of space which may indicate something that is out of this world. There is a abnormal use of technology which could suggest this is meant to be set in the future. We see dark colours which indicate the cold feeling of the future until eventually bright colours open up when there are scenes from the outer world. Throughout the trailer you will see abnormal creatures which could be referred to aliens, but instead 'Avatars'. Towards the end of the movie you will see humans vs the avatars with weapons and machines which shows the movie is a good vs evil.

Target audience
The trailer has been given a 13PG as there could be fighting, although children may find it fun and interesting to see things that are out of this world. The movie has beautiful settings and abnormal but gorgeous creatures which couldn't be inappropriate. I suggest that older adults will also find it interesting but not as much as younger's and they understand it is unnatural. Overall i suggest it should be aged 9-40 as it is very creative. This could be 50/50 for boys and grils and there is slight violence for the boys but romance for the girls and it would be enjoyable for both genders

Genre
'E.T' is a classic sci-fi movie and is an amazing family movie. This is shown as there is an unusual alien which lives in a happy family. At the start of the trailer we catch scenes of different places that all have trees or plants. This could indicate that there is a sort of creature living there as later on we see something hopping along the grass and walking down the city. This shows that the movie simply has unnatural lifeforms.

Key genres
We see at the start of the film an abnormal alien like creature hoping and walking around in the grass down to the city. This shows the alien is on the planet. The scenes of the city show that is was set a a present scene and not to far in the future or past. We see that the alien meets a family and becomes on of them. Suddenly it is shown that the alien flys the bike which can indicate that the alien has special powers. This is also shown as at the end of the video the aliens finger lights up and says
'I'll be back here' This shows that he is leaving the family but suggests he will return. This indicates how the film could end up very sadly.

Target audience
This is a classical family film which cant really be given certain age ratings as it is for everyone to watch together. This movie is meant for the whole family to gather and watch and is equally for boys and girls. It could be for children as the child is the main characterand adults will find it intresting.

1.       I chose Media Studies because I would like to find out how scenes from films are made and thought it would be a fun and interesting subject to learn about. I also chose it as my other siblings have studied this and said it was a great subject.

2.       I am mostly looking forward to shooting scenes and adding different effects. This is because I think it would be really cool.

3.       In Media I hope I will learn about Photoshop, editing skills, and camera skills. I also just want to find out how movies are made and the secrets behind it all.

4.        I would like to achieve an A and if I work hard enough an A*, but to achieve this I know I need to work incredibly hard and be focused on all times.

5.       The last Movie I watched was Mother thou art loosed. This was a very interesting movie which hadn’t had many effects but I really enjoyed the action and tension.

6.       I think that the movie appealed to the audience because there was a lot of drama and stunts being played. This was because of fake stunts and sound effects.

7.       The last technology I have used to access media was my laptop.

8.       I mainly use my iPhone to access the internet and media as it is very handy and I always have it will me.

9. Jurassic world is a type of  adventure or action film as there is many stunts and they are surrounded in a unusual jungly setting.

10. This could appeal to a family as the first scene of the trailer is a family which shows to audience who it is appropriate for. This could also be attract mouing teenagers as there are dinosaurs and action which children find interesting and engaging. This could also be interesting for the adults as there is slightly harsh fighting scenes and a  bit of thriller which wouldn't be to scary.
